How electronic scoring works.
How do taekwondo sensors work?
The sensors in the protective equipment work together with sensors in the athletes' socks. They measure the impact of each strike and automatically record valid points.
What is PSS?
The Protector Scoring System (PSS) was introduced at the London 2012 Olympic Games. Body protectors fitted with electronic sensors register kicks and punches applied with sufficient force.
How does the point system work?
- Punch to the trunk+1
- Kick to the trunk+2
- Kick to the head+3
- Turning kick to the trunk+4
- Turning kick to the head+5
- Gam-jeom (penalty)+1 to opponent
